THE COMING MONTHSITY VALVE…

FANSITY VALVE.

It’s been a teensy weensy bit of a while. Gish has been slaving away on videos (in between bouts on Skyrim) and Mos Prob has been focussing on battles (two of which are due up in the coming months, keep an eye or three out) and cranking in his room. Needless to say, we’ve been up to our eyes in useless bollocks, and have once again neglected this treasure trove of a website. To make up for that we made it really pretty for you.

SO…

FIRST THINGS FIRST.

WORD FIGHT.

IT’S NOW A REAL NIGHT.

This Friday (20th April) Sanity Valve host a battle night with a difference: there are no rappers there. Stupidity will abound as Bert kills Ernie, Two-Can combats at Gishnchips, brothers hurt brothers, nerds hert nerds, death metal vocalists growl and everyone generally gets a bit rowdy. It’s a fundraiser for our Edinburgh Fringe show (more on that in about a paragraph) and it can only be good. Entry is £3 at Ouch! Bar at 8pm. Do a that.

STRAIGHT OUT OF COMPETENT: THE RISE AND FALL AND RISE AND FALL OF MC RAPPER AND DJ WICKED: A HIPHOPERA is our upcoming Hip Hop Comedy musical, starring us as everyone and written by us as everyone. Sanity Valve are REALLY GOOD until SOMEONE starts usurping their shit. Who? And why? And who? Find out. Poster and promo stuff all to follow.

THE FULL METAL JACKET POTATO EP is also about to happen up everyone. Four songs that are a significant step up from anything we’ve done before are fully written and we’re trying to record the vocals without it sounding like a beetle crying in a tin can. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also check out our pals and colleagues at www.casualviolencecomedy.co.uk and go to their residency on the 30th for a preview of their Edinburgh Fringe show. It’s really good.

NOW GO. SAVE YOURSELVES.

MOS PROB AND GISHNCHIPS

I founded a meme maker. EHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHE

FUCKING…

HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND ALL OF THAT.

I think largely because this website is a tumblr we really don’t update this enough but next year gives us 365 new days to find new ways of pissing you off with words so we ruddy well shall.

2011 saw us kill up the Edinburgh Fringe. It saw Mos Prob enter real life rap battling. It saw the start of our residency ReallyGoodStock, and at the last hurdle, pack it out with real life people. It saw our new album Get Old Or Die Tryin’ happen. It saw the return of Gish’s fro. And we got at least three new hats between us. 2011 was a good year.

Next year is the 12th year of perhaps the last millenium we’re going to survive (we’ll still have a fair bit of posthumous success post-3000 like that Tupac fella) and as such we need to make this the year of the Valve. We promise to you:

  • More G Street Band
  • A full length hip hop comedy musical at The Fringe 2012 simply called

STRAIGHT OUT OF COMPETENT: THE RISE AND FALL AND RISE AND FALL OF MC RAPPER AND DJ WICKED- A HIPHOPERA.

  • The filming and publication of Word Fight battle events: comedians vs comedians.
  • New EPs, albums and even acts (starting off with Tuppence and a Spoon, the world’s most distinguished folk Anal Cunt tribute act.)
  • And the inevitable growth of ReallyGoodStock.

Massive shout outs to everyone that’s been crucial to how good we’ve been this year:Mat Davies aka Empdy AGAIN for making some ridiculous beats for us and producing a full album, even with us not in the country for half the process. The fact that rappers like TC and Suus are getting the beats we never used for the record shows the quality of what this guy can do, and he and Adam Boothroyd (again responsible for part of the album) as Azedia can only do amazing things this year. LISTEN TO AZEDIA HERE. George McKenzie, Mark Jefferis, Richard Macklin and Dave Gamble were all absolutely essential for making the album happen as well, and we’re really, really grateful.

Big ups James Hamilton and Casual Violence! Comedy for taking us up alongside them to Edinburgh and really giving us the chance to work out what we do and how to do it. We’re little shits most of the time and James slapped us round the head and forced us to focus. Now we’re LOADS better because of it. Casual Violence! have a residency starting this month, and are writing a new show every month. Have a gander at www.portableresidency.co.uk.

And the people who feel left out: Paddy Cole for his amazing cartoonery, Cliff Barnes at the Caroline of Brunswick for throwing a potentially hazardous free regular night our way, and anyone who’s watched or supported us over the last year. We don’t know how all of this has happened, but we’re incredibly thankful.

In the meanwhile of time, ReallyGoodStock returns on the 7th January with Marc Shalet, Dave Waller of Marbles and WORD FIGHT.

FAREWELLINGTONS AND HAVE A SAFE NEW YEAR.

WORD

MOS PROB AND GISHNCHIPS

INJURE YOU MASSIVE ALL DAY EVERY DAY MOTHERFUCKERS

This is our own Mos Prob, slaying some guy in battle.

SO…

We laid low for a bit after Edinburgh, but now we’re back with a brand new rap.

Don’t forget to clock GET OLD OR DIE TRYIN’ at sanityvalve.bandcamp.com (link right above this shit) because it’s really rather good at rapping. The Skinny called us “surprisingly good at rapping” in fact, so actually that’s a sound but really backhanded endorsement.

We have TWELVE gigs coming up. We will be re-running our Edinburgh show all over. TWELVE is not necessarily true, but it’s more than one, so it’s TWELVE.

THIS IS THEM AND WHERE THEY ARE AT AND WHEN.

-28/9/11: SUSSEX UNI FRESHER’S FAIR, BRIGHTON RACECOURSE

-29/9/11: OUCH! MUSIC BAR, HOVE

-8/10/11: POPCORN COMEDY @ KOMEDIA, BRIGHTON

-10/10/11: BAR VINYL, CAMDEN

-26/10/11: DEAD POETS, PETERBOROUGH

And introducing our monthly residency, now from the last Saturday of every month: ReallyGoodstock…

-29/10/10: REALLYGOODSTOCK @ CAROLINE OF BRUNSWICK
